Title: What can I grow for them ?
Post by: Squinky on March 23, 2011, 08:58:22 pm
Hi all, We have a pretty turnover piece of ground and another that's been ploughed. What can I grow for weaners arriving late May/ early June. A friend grew peas and beans a few years ago. They devoured the peas but only went for the beans when all else was gone. I know there are peas and there are peas, same with beans and I don't know what variety he had ( and neither does he ! ). Any suggestions. Both sites are south facing and free draining.
Thanks, Johnny

Our boys love carrots but I guess that's a bit early for them. How about swedes or parsnips?

Perhaps I'll sow a mixture. After all I wouldn't want my salad to be all lettuce  ;D

They'll basically love anything, sounds like you've got growing conditions for most crops. A mix is the most interesting for them &  it'll be interesting to see what they go for first & in what order.  Let us know.

Oh, carrots great but not parsnips.
