Am considering having a pig roast. I am thinking of around 190 - 220 people. How big a pig would I need to give everyone a good serving?
-
Two at 65-70 kg live weight I reckon, as 65kg iis for about 100

Can you cook it yourself or are you going to get some one else to do it for you. Will you spit roast or oven roast.
-
Its spit roast, and if we do go ahead I think it will be me doing the panicking and OH turning the spit. ;D Thanks for the replies its very helpful.

When we had a hog roast a couple of years ago they came in in the small hours of the night - 2-3 am ish and lit up the gas thingy, and it spit roast for something like 14 -15 hours. Heck of a long time anyway. We are having another in early August, so the litter born at the end of Feb will be just over 5 months, so a couple of them should be likely candidates! (They are GOS cross large black) I'll walk them all through the weighing crate near the time and select the best!

do u leave the heads on when its cooking?

Yes we do. I am thinking 2 pigs would be better than 1 large one. Please keep coming with the much appreciated help, advice and comments.
