Hi all!
I've just rescued a little Dartmoor filly. She's only about 7 months old and her mum went for meat :(. I'll be bringing her home in the next week or so or she would have gone too (beyond me why as she's tiny!!)
I'm arranging her passport and I obviously need a name! She's a completely unhandled little ball of dirty Bay fluff.
The only idea I've come up with so far is Lola.
Any other idea's at all?! ;D

midget/ gem or bridget

Ah I quite like Bridget LW! I asked my other half and his suggestions were either Sleepy Head or Stinker ::) Useless!!! :D

Lucinda xx loosey-inda

Name her for what she will be not for what she is :)

I agree with Rosemary - I once gave one of mine the KC name of Vengeance for Aberdon - well he was dubbed as being vicious - a sweet little lad he was so it wasn't true, but ran like the clappers so a friend had him for working. He was then renamed as Vengeance ON Aberdon. ::)

Lucy!! as she surely is!!

thats why i suggested Lucinda ;D -
it means...... graceful light, illumination, bringer of light, or born at daybreak, and you could use any number of its derivatives, lucy, cinda, etc

Given the narow escape she's had, I call her lucky 8);) ;D ;D

How about Bay Dawn as a name significant of a new begining

Sorry guys, I wasn't able to get online yesterday! :)
I'm not sure my OH would be able to cope with the confusion of having me and the pony named the same! ;)
We have decided to call her Hope. We now think she is probably only 5 months old as she has been seen trying to suckle from the other fillies ... I've sorted out a double stable for her whewre she can see our little shetland in his paddock (my OH has cut the door in half!) and I've put up a mirro for her.
We collect her on Saturday morning ... bit worried about getting her into a stable but hope we can do it fairly smoothly for her :)

Love it!
The horse next to Smokey at our old livery yard was called Hope and the one next was Chance - so if both were out, there was nae hope and nae chance ;D

what a lovely story, i wish you all the very best with hope, my big mare is called faith, i got a little colt (william) off dartmoor that was destined for meat, he was as wild as wild could be, about 5 months old, what a little cracker he turned into, from the big scary world he came into leaving dartmoor, he took his new life on with character and heaps of enthasism, and ended up a cracking little driving pony, we had heaps and heaps of fun together, he was adorable, i was full of admiration for him, he loved life and lived it to the full.
Please keep us posted with how you all get on

I like that Rosemary!
Certainly will Faith. Once the nerves pass I shall be a very proud foster mum!! ;D

we have two rescued Dartmoor Hill Pony foals, both colts in need of the chop, one is mcflurry and the other mcmuffin. Very cute, easily tamed, love their food and will survive anything, bit like a cock roach i believe! They are tough as nails but make sure she learns who is boss early on. We had a lovely pony once called Maisie, might suit your little one too. Good luck with her :)
