Title: How much to feed
Post by: nails on March 13, 2011, 09:50:53 pm
As most of you know i have Mangalitza pigs, how much should i be feeding them?
I don't want to over feed them, they will be kept in for a few days as we need to sort the fence out, as i want to keep them separate from the weaners i have, but the lady we got them off said her hubby fed them and she didn't know how much they had

I havent had mangalitsas for a few years, as I remember we fed more pignuts in winter, about 2 kilos per pig per day and reduced this in the summer to about 1.25 kilos and loads of veg.  This worked for us, as when we slaughtered we had no more than an average amount of back fat, fed too much they run to fat very quickly.
