I've got 4 hens , one duck and a drake. the drake is totally hassling the hens trying to mate with them and now he's ended up with a very sore eye. i'm not sure if i should get more ducks to keep him busy or a cockerel to keep in in his place... any other ideas? would just like peace to reign in the garden again, any thoughts useful,
thanx

a couple more ladies. getting a cock would get him more beaten up.

They can get a bit rampant, no expert at all but I was going to get another female Duck as our Drake bonks the chickens and drownd one last year, poor chicken must have bent over for a drink in the pond and the Drake dunked her, she had her feathers parted on her back and we found her drowned ::)

Oh Sandy, how awful to find her like that. How undignified too. :o

Slightly funny as Steve was throwing apples over the fence and thought he had knocked her unconscious!!
-
definitely, get him more girls - 4-6 per drake is a good number! It is not fair on the only girl - and the hens otherwise! :&>

great , thanx for all that advice, looks like i'll be getting more ducks then. i got those ones for £10 each in Monikie Angus. Anyone know of any other people selling them? (Fife, Angus).

oh, what a shame...
if you post on here (marketplace and poultry ection) and on other forums, I'm sure there are folks around here who have Indian runners! Then there is always the poultry sales/auction. :&>
