further to the comments under Plumseverywhere's thread about her impending visit from AH, I have just a few things that I could do with clarifying... on the grounds that they will, eventually get round to visiting us too!
:pig: We store our pig feed (meal) in a dustbin with clip on, the sacks emptied out into it 2 at a time (only buy in twos or fours in winter) the lid has tape on it, so I put another larger one over it too.
:chook: :&> the chicken feed is in a big blue wheelie-bin, I scoop out from the open sacks, of layers pellet & mixed corn.
:goat: We have mixed flakes (opened & emptied) and an open sack of maize in a dustbin, and full & open goat mix in another wheelie bin. this also holds the unopened rabbit food (or sometimes an open bag) and anything unopened we can't fit it anywhere!
:farmer: shredded beet flakes are in the shed, as there's no other space & they get everywhere! the rabbit food goes in a small bin in here too. along with all the paper, shavings etc.
??? are these various arrangements going to satisfy Animal Health??
and does each species of animal need its own bucket and scoop - including the chickens and the ducks separately?
thanks all

yes they should.

Pah!!!!!!!
my husband is lucky if he gets a seperate spoon from the dog!!
ET
-
you use spoons posh devils.
-
Whats a spoon??????????
-
I keep our pig food in a clip down bin in the utility room, which is off of our porch is this ok?
-
should be. but if your storing feed in the house watch out for spilt stuff. you don't want vermin.
-
also make sure if you sell anything by way of meat you record all the feed batch nos and dates. If you dont then just make sure you dont lose the label when you open the sack (as when AH take feed samples they want the batch no and ingredients list from the label). I had to reconstruct one of ours from 3 parts as I had been a bit over enthusiastic ripping it open!

OMG L&M this is getting OTT BTW!!
TTFN
ET LOL

Its really different here, thank heavens.

Yes - I think the UK could do with exporting a few of its "Civil Servants" I feel the rest of the world isn't shouldering its responsiblities ;D ;D
-
is it not the animal welfare lobby that is the prime mover
-
They didn't even look at my food store yesterday, its a bit random really isn't it as to what they check and what they don't across the Uk.
-
thanks all,
never thought about feed labels - will have to save the pig ones...

I would think you will get a visit from the same man we got, Little Blue ......he never asked to see any feed bins, and to be honest it never crossed my mind that he may wish to. I have that many animals and species, he would be there all morning looking at different containers and feeds!! He was more interested in the paperwork being up to date.
I would not worry, I have just had my first visit, after years of animal keeping, and he said their priorities are with the larger set ups, so it may be ages before he gets round to you!!
