Just to let you all know that my "trial" using Annie's method seems to have worked. I did only leave rounder eggs for the broody to sit on, not the longer narrower shape and all were girls! It's worth a try for all who suffer from ending up with too many cockerels ;D Don't sue me if it doesn't work but I probably will try the same method with the duck eggs (if ever they decide to start laying ::) ) ;D :chook: :&>

I used to sex eggs with a pendulum ( I don't bother these days as we eat the cockerels) but I,ve never heard of doing it by egg shape before!

we have also noted which of ours were rounded as we had heard that this may work, so we have set only 3 pointed ones to see if it is true. The other 16 are rounded so here's hoping it works.
Ours are due to hatch today we have 4 pipping at the moment so very anxious to know how many will make it

good luck, meebh! :chook: could you source your chick crumbs? :&>

I saw one of these for sale on ebay, thought they were having a laugh! do they work?

thank you Northfifeduckling, I just got a small bag of chick crumbs from Rogers in the end no ACS. Ran out of time sourcing them but may get some in my next farmgate order if we do hatch more this year.
We now have 4 completely out of their shell and just fluffing up nicely, I am amazed at how fragile and lethargic they look when they hatch, not been able to see before when using a broody

pictures, please! :chook: :&>

Yes, Julesmart, they do but I think you have to be "able" I can't do it now but my son can. Something to do with age and attitude of mind, I think!
