Title: dirty bottom
Post by: shrekfeet on February 21, 2011, 12:12:21 pm
I have a chuck with a very dirty bum and she is looking rather miserable. Not as keen to take afternoon corn as the others. All have been wormed regularly (how often should them be done?)
Any ideas what I should do?

I would isolate her and just see, possibly put some vinegar in her water, in my experience its chickens that have a death wish, not sheep as often quoted...

They say you should worm them every 3 months but that could be expencive...but it sounds like worms to me i would seperate her and treat her on her own just so non of the others get it.

It could be that she either has an egg stuck or one cracked inside her. Give her a warm wash in a bowl of water and see if you can investigate her vent for signs of cracked eggshells.

Also check for lice/mites around her vent
