Title: moving fence over veg field
Post by: Galician Smallholder on January 31, 2011, 04:17:27 pm
Hi I am planning to section of 1 hectare of land to plant hardy crops to add to the food I am currently feeding my pigs. I was thinking of sectioning of land using electric horse wire and then periodically moving fence back allowing pigs to forage and dig up the veg themselves? Do you think this would work ??? also what would you suggest in planting. Any thought / suggestions much appreciated

See no reason why not.

We put pigs onto our veg patch about this time of year behind horse tape to clear it out, they rotovate, eliminate, and manurevate!

You will need to ensure they are trained to the tape first, as otherwise they are as likely to go forward as backward when they first touch it.
