Looking for details of a carrot supplier in Central Scotland. Can anyone help? I currently get bags of horsey carrots at Carrs Billington but think I could get a bulk load locally for my pigs that is cheaper.
Thanks in anticipation

What about Sellickbhoy (Chris) who used to post on here ? I'm sure he was getting all set up for growing, but I'm not sure how many or what costs would be involved.
Might be worth a try ;)

There's a lot of frost damaged stock feed sugar beet available at the moment. They're about the same price as carrots and, assuming your pigs will eat them, much higher feed value - twice the dry matter, higher energy etc.

carrots have very low nutritional value for pigs potatoes have a much better feed value and very often free this time of year from local farmers.

I'm getting carrots in bags for £3 at the moment but I know the supplier is getting trailer loads in at a time to bag up and sell on - assumed it was Aitkens but there are several carrot fields in this area this year so I was wondering if I had the nerve to knock on doors - but I don't :-[

That's a good idea. Ours love carrots. Wonder if there's anyone in the north who can supply me a ton or so?
