Triplets, fantastic!!  They look gorgeous too.   How many more to lamb for this session? You must have a good percentage.   :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:

Well done you (and ewe) 150% lambing average, or is that 300% maths was never my strong point.

If any of them are girls the genetics go on.  My first ewe that tripled had two girls which I kept and both had triplets!

All the best
Sue

 ;D ;D ;D ;D :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:

so far twins and now triplets and all boys !!!! I have another 8 to lamb in this batch and then another 13 for the beginning of april.  I am really enjoying it, tomorrow we will let the first ewe out in the field for the day only, we have built a wind break / shelter for them to have some cover I will take my camera so will have some decent photos, my phone isnt that good for photos as you can see !!

Are you going to leave all three on the ewe to rear?

I don't like triplets... I prefer to take one off the ewe, and that means lots of bottle feeding and is expensive. Hopefully this year I have enough goatsmilk to keep any "spare" ones, but all that bottlewashing....(for the goat kids too...)

Actually the ewe has a large udder and is very milky, if I am lucky to get a single from another ewe very soon, I can take one of the triplets and see if I can get her to odopt it after smothering in amniotic fluid. We will see, once bottle fed they get very humanised and im not too keen on that, more like a pet.

If ewe is milky....leave well alone! Sheep that are fed well can do triplets with ease....I have never taken triplets of a good big ewe with 2 working teats on good grub.....totally unnecessary unless you want a lot of hassle!
If on the otherhand you had several ewes all lambing at the same tine like in a big commercial flock it is v easy to take a triplet and give it to a single mum.
Why make yourself more work?

Ha ha nice one Sandy...

Woollyshepard

yes as she was milky I hope that ive done the right thing, they all seem to be doing well, was a bit of a shame tho, finding the single this morning, if I had been there I may well have transfered one over into her fluid to adopt her, but as I hadnt scanned any even if I was there it wouldnt have been clear that she was having a single anyway, I could have been waiting for another and then it doesnt come so...

another question for you woolly shepard but I will post a new topic ok
