Hi All - Just seen the following email posted to another board and couldn't resist replying and as a lot of you are in Scotland I thought it might make you laugh!
Sue
I'm writing this with tears in my eye,I and my family and I came down here to SCOTLAND,United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed , all our cash, credit card and Cell Phone were stolen off us at GUN POINT but luckily for us we still have our passports with us but don't have enough money to sort the bills so we can get out of here.
We've been to the embassy and the police here but they're not helping issues at all and our round flight leaves soon but we're having problems settling the hotel bills, and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills, I'm freaked out at the moment and wondering if you could help us with a quick loan, I promise I'll refund it once we get home. Please write me so i can send you the info on how you can get the money to me,so as to save me from the embarrassment of not being able to cover the bills.
Charlean Andes.
My reply:
Poor Charlean, presumably you had come down from the Arctic circle to enjoy some of the warm weather they are enjoying in Scotland this winter!!!!! You were certainly fortunate to find an embassy from your country in Scotland!!!!!
Its a pity they couldn't help but you really should get in touch with our media here. I can't remember Scotland ever having a tourist held up at gunpoint. I am sure the amount they will pay for your story will more than pay your expenses, and leave you with a handsome profit on the experience

::)One of the latest scams, sometimes they choose a name known to the E Mail address, I have had one supposedly from my daughters boy friend, same thing yet he said he was "over seas" well, he was in Ireland at the time but I knew it was a scam. We keep a B&B and only a year ago some lads in balaclavas were pretending to hold up people, needless to say the squat team got them and gave them a good telling off!!!!!! I wonder if people do send money???

I would just stay on and enjoy a holiday on the house if they won't let her go ;D ;D ;D poor thing, nice try   :&>
