Does anyone know which Wellies are still made in Europe ? I know Dunlop are and they would be fine for me but my daughter has a more attractive design in mind....Hunters are now made in China :P -
-
What about Muckboots? Good fit for me, but t be honest I have not checked if they are made here or in China. I am just glad I can get wellies that fit my feet and keep them warm too...

Bought myself a pair of Hunters for Christmas over the internet, and if they did not have the name stamped all over them I would not have even thought they were by the same people they are so inferior to my last pair (which I stupidly ruined by digging in them >:( )
All the best

Aigle are supposed to be made in France. Expensive though.

Bekina wellies are made in belgium I believe so that's a third thing for the country to be famous for, other than chocolate and Poirot. Oh yes, and Tintin so that's four :D. If people havn't tried them, they are excellent. Comfy, warm and really easy to get on and off. Designed to be worn all day and I do. Very reasonably priced too when compared to the likes of Aigle and Hunter. Downside is that they may not make it in the style stakes for daughter as they are plain and functional. I bought mine from an outfit in Yorkshire, but I found them through Google so give it a go.

Dunlop make great wellies, and a good price too ...
love my industrial steel toe capped wellies - cant even feel it when the goat stands on my feet!
-
Hunters are now made in China :P -
i've bought one pair of hunters and i was very disappointed - they were obviously designed for super skinny people as i couldn't get my legs in them
i'm desperately seeking a good pair of waterproof, warm boots. I had some snow boots that ticked all the boxes, but they split along the seems after a few months.
Any suggestions on something warm, grippy and waterproof - most welcome!!
-
I've stuck with Hunters for years and spend many a long hour in my wellies, but i have to say that my current pair will probably be my last. definately not made the way they used to be and dont last any time at all any more.
also have muckboots and think they are brilliant. very warm, but definately not a fashion statement - cant imagine Hannah or Tara fancying them to be honest!
-
Should anyone not blessed with matchstick legs want to buy Hunters (tho not sure why you would ;)), try looking for the "Huntress" style, which is wider in the leg and a little shorter. Never tried them myself but friends have been very pleased with them. Not always stocked but they do exist so be persistent.
-
Love my Mucks!!!!! comfy and very warm and been able to keep standing in all this ice due to the huge grips!!!

What about Barbour wellies?
I've also heard Hunter boots are not worth bothering with. Aigle might be worth a go though.
Muckers ok but only if the mud/water level no higher than top of foot, ankle deep and it's wet sock time!
-
still looking ::) I emailed every company where my daughter might like the boots about their country of production. Seems nobody cares about my business >:( But I care as I had so many pairs myself which split after a few months that I am generally fed up...I like the the Barbour , Hoggs also have blue Balfours. I won some Joules Wellies last year which are quite stylish but don't seem too durable, more a festival boot, so I'm gentle with them ;) I hope someone will reply with where their stuff actually comes from! Maybe I sould just buy myself a new pair as I'm not so choosy with design and pass the Joules on? :&>
-
Most advertisers of Barbour wellies state made in Europe. I can find only one ref to them being made in England. Maybe do a google search and get that verified?
:paw:
-
Nora wellies are made in Italy the ladies one are quite stylish(Antonia from memory)
-
I am a rigger boot guy, none of this welly stuff - but then I am a bloke.
Got to be one size too big so they are cool in summer and can handle an extra pair of socks in winter.
-
Joules got back to me - they are made in China, I wasn't expecting anything else, pretty but flimsy ::) :&>
-
I can't believe the reply I just had from Hoggs - "this is information we don't give out - ever - including any customer service email address for the producer!!" Is this classified information which country they are made in???
??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ::) >:( :&>

I have a pair of Aigle an they are the best I've ever had. Hunters don't even come close and don't last long. I've had the Aigles for 6yrs now, so they work out cheaper in the long run and they're still good, worth every penny. I've got a pair of Dana muck type boots says made in Israel in them I don't know if that's quite Europe they are in the Eurovision song contest if that counts ;D
-
Muckboots - fairly warm but split quickly
Buckboots - warm but split quickly
Sherwoods- warm but split quickly
Mountain horse yard boots- warm, waterproof but only too ankle, durable, have eventually split after several years
..............Hunters (old style)- Bl**dy freezing, cant seem to split them so I still have them :P !!
will try aigle next time

Zoyks! Reading this post is bad luck - my trusty Barbours have split. And this post got me wondering so I emailed Barbour to see exactly where their wellies are made, guess what? No reply.
It's probably the Aigle route for me then.......
-
After a lot of HooHa with Hoggs I finally got them to admit that the ones I liked are an import from the Far East, surpise ::) :&>
-
I now had lovely reply from the first on-line seller to reply - Woolsthorpe Wellies, who derserve to be quoted and shared! They also do deserve our business for such a nice customer service lol :&>
We stopped selling Hunter boots when they transferred their production to China a couple of years ago – it was immediately evident in the fit and quality.
Le Chameau produce a large amount of their boots now in their purpose-built factory in Morocco. As I understand it, only the zipped boots (Le Chameau Chasseurnord and Chasseur) are still produced in France.
Aigle produce 99% of their standard range of boots in France, with the exception of the cheaper seasonal ranges (that we don’t stock!) and their children’s wellingtons, which are made in the Far East.
Muck Boots, an American company, produce all of their boots in China.
Seeland I am not sure about, I’m afraid. We have only recently started stocking Seeland boots but I will ask next time we are in touch with them (there are no markings on the boots or packaging).
I hope that helps. It is difficult these days to establish just where everything comes from. I don’t believe that any rubber boots are now produced in the UK, and European manufacturers are also becoming thin on the ground! Aigle are possibly your safest bet.

what make are those wellies with the stretchy neoprene tops? and does anyone know where i can get some?...need them for my fat calves..lol..lol.. ;D ;D ;D
-
Hi LMP....muck boots, and buck boots have the tops you are looking for
HTH Emma T ;D
-
I'm now on my second pair of Muckboots after wearing Hunters for years. The Muckboots are so warm and there's no need for a second pair of socks. I wouldn't wear anything else now and they are much better value than Aigle or Le Chameau.
-
Gumleaf.com sell wellies made in Czech Republic which is quite a lot nearer than China.

Where can I get buck boots? I've tried looking online but it just brings up steel toe working boots. ::)

My Hunters served me very well for about 6 years, I practically lived in them, but when they finally split on the sole I couldn't afford more so went for a pair of Rhinegold , new, on E bay. That was mid Nov, I haven't worn them that much as during all that cold & snow wore some Woof Wear long boots I got second hand on E bay. The Rhinegold wellies have now split, both, just where they crease as I bend my leg. Cost £15 + £5 P & P. So you do get what you pay for! Am waiting to hear if they will refund. DON'T BUY RHINEGOLD WELLIES! But my woof wear boots are great, cosy & waterproof. Only downside is they feel a size too big in the feet & an wear 2 pairs thick socks. Also soles feel a bit thin so the extra socks or an insole would be best. Also quite tight to get feet in through ankle area. I would buy them again but would get new & try a smaller size.
-
I wore Huntress boots for years but they only lasted 3-6 months as I am in them all day and the rubber quality was consistently rubbish. Always split on the outside side where the crease is when you bend your foot.
Ive then bitten the bullet and bought neoprene lined Le Chameau boots, £95 but they have come thru a whole winter so far no probs and the rubber is way way higher quality. Whether made in EU or not I dont know but so far they have been well worth the money esp as they have the neoprene and so my toes stayed warm in -20. They are quite tough to get off tho as the neoprene surface hugs at your leg as you pull them off but they are great.
I wouldnt buy hunters again.
-
I had a pair of hunters first pair ever as their so expensive, although very narrow and tricky to get on they were extremely comfortable, after only 6 months small split cut and the water came in, now dont bother with expensive wellies and have gone back to rigger boots fur lined, these have come down in price to about £20 pair, nice and warm comfy but wont last very long if your in water muck all the time.......... ::)
