Title: Feeding Pigs
Post by: patchy1990 on January 11, 2011, 07:39:03 pm
For christmas i was lucky enough to get two GOS piglets (3 months old). We've kept pigs before - kune kunes and pot bellied.

However am having a few concerns over feeding them, these pigs are just for breeding - obviously not for a while, and i have been going down the 1lb of food for every month a day, and i feed them twice a day. But when it comes to feed time, they are going mental squeeling. Am i feeding them enough? There is no information of how much/often to feed on the feed bags. and they aren't squeeling all the time.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thankyou  :)

all pigs squeal when you feed them    another rule of thumb is what they can eat in 20 min

Mine would grunt very loudly too, sounds like what you're doing is just fine, they should be keen to be fed and 1lb per month up to 6/8 per day depending on breed is fine.

its excitement, not just hunger.
ours too recognise "their" bucket, and which feed bin is theirs.... and always call out!
