Hi
I've used the site on and off for some time now and just getting started with posting.
If anyone is in the Lanarkshire or Ayrshire areas it would be great to connect.
I've got a small flock of sheep, ducks and hens, and 3 horses and am training my own sheepdogs. This winter I am planning to plant an orchard! The work will keep me warm in the cold weather 😀

Hi and welcome from South Wales

Hello and welcome from a bit further afield, in Carnoustie.
What varieties of apples are you planning to plant? Assuming it is an apple orchard?
Hope you're coming along to the Scottiah Smallholder Festival in October.

I hope all is well in carnoustie :)
I'm planting heritage apples, pears etc. And plan to have soft fruit bushes as well. I've already got soft fruit bushes dotted about the holding but this time it will be in a specific area.
I will be at the smallholders festival. It seems to be getting better and better each year since recovering from lockdown.

Hi Amanda, I'm in S Lanarks too, near Biggar  We have a few sheep left, some geese, no hens (thanks foxie), a veggie garden plus lots of trees and wildlife areas. We are slowly winding down the livestock. I always wanted a donkey but I wasn't allowed one, too late now ::) Whereabouts are you?
