Title: 6 month old lamb - could she be pregnant?
Post by: rach2808 on October 01, 2023, 07:48:18 am
This year was my first time lambing , ended up with a wether incorrectly banded, didn’t realise until he started started humping the ewes at 4 months old .

One of my ewe lambs is looking very round, she was in with him until around 4.5 months. Initially I suspected she had bloat but no signs of any sickness etc. is there any chance she could have conceived at 4.5 months ?

I don’t think she would be cycling at 4.5 months. Even if she was she would only be 6 weeks in lamb and wouldn’t be showing now anyhow.

You don't say what breed and when born  ,  in most breeds niether the male or female should be fertile at such a young age  , some early born down breeds   pushed on with lots of food then the male may be fertile    , most breeds and especially hill and primative would be a lot older before fertile
