Found a lamb with fly strike on Friday - middle of back in the warm wet fleece - so clipped off the fleece (rather badly with scissors as don't have clippers - these are shedding sheep!) and Crovected. Checked her over again yesterday. All maggots dead but still loads sticking to the fleece and in the fleece. Will they eventually just fall off over time? Picking individual maggots out of a Crovected fleece is quite tricky and the lamb was losing patience ....
We're not sure why she was struck - no wounds, clean bum etc, nothing obvious to attract flies to her in particular. Weather has been intermittent heavy rain followed by warm days so blaming it on that. Lamb appeared ok on Thursday and was grazing with the flock. Noticed Friday pm she was lying down on her own well away from flock so went to check her and found her covered in flies. ???

Don't worry about the dead maggots they will dry and fall off , could be something as simple as bird poo on the back

Don't know if you are keeping her for breeding , but if you record her tag number it would be interesting to see if she ever gets struck again as some sheep are genetically more prone to strike

Thanks. I read about this and actually had already decided not to breed from her. She will go to slaughter in the Spring (for Easter) along with a couple of others.
