Title: Bird Flu Restrictions being lifted
Post by: Richmond on April 11, 2023, 05:18:29 pm
Being lifted from 18th April. So housing not mandatory unless you are still in a protection or surveillance zone (there are still a few about). Biosecurity measures still necessary though, eg foot dips, don't allow wild birds access to food, water etc.

In England and Wales
It turns out that once again the rules/laws are different in our four nations!

I thought the exclusion zone in our county meant my hens had to be under cover - I asked when this was likely to be lifted and was told we don't have a housed law as you have in England so all I needed to do was exercise bio security - which I do anyway.  So my four are getting freedom this weekend

Yep!

I'm wondering if with the changes in Government this will be the case next year?  The large cage I bought for the flockdown that didn't happen has now been appropriated for my winter brassicas, so I'm hoping Scotland will continue to see sense.
