Hi everyone!
I hope you've all had a peaceful Christmas :)
Macey (our one and only blind sheep) has had a runny nose the last few days. I was treating her for ORF (I think it was orf- it looked like she had a big angry cold sore under her left nostril with a swollen left lip. I've been cutting her grass from a friendly neighbour's field. I read that scabs from infected sheep can transmit orf for up to a year so not sure if that's where she got it from) with Himalayan rock salt dissolved in a large bowl of warm water. I put various things for her to eat in there, so she could "bob for apples", and get her whole muzzle and nose wet with the salt water. It worked an absolute charm and cleared in a few days without spreading. It was then that I noticed her snotty nose and just put it down to snot being discharged when she got water up her nose and shook her head to dry off. It was clearing but now her snotty nose seems to be a regular feature (last 5 days). It's only out of the left nostril (if I'm looking at her nose) and is thick mucus ranging from translucent to light green in colour. Her poos have gradually changed from hard pellets to a combination of pellets at times and then BIG soft stools (firm enough though to pick up and throw away). Sometimes there is a mucus layer around the big plops with what seems to be a tinge of blood in it. Those two things aside, she seems really healthy. She has a VERY healthy appetite, and a shelter out of the wind and rain with lots of straw. Any thoughts and suggestions?
