Title: Sheep throwing up
Post by: Salmanjan93 on October 30, 2022, 02:10:53 am
Hey Friends, So I have this a year old ewe, who recently gave birth to a sweet little lamb. She was suffering from flystrike after giving birth, recovered from that no wounds as now. But since 5 -6 days she is throwing up, she eats a little and then throws up. Has become very weak since than. Decreased appetite, Passing stool normally and urinates also Please help. Yesterday she was fine, offered her some leaves, it was late in the evening when she again vomitting, it had this slimy bits of those leaves, greenish watery liquid.
Please help 🙏🙏

There is only one plant that makes sheep (and other ruminants) throw g up... Rhododendron and related plants. Very poisonous and probably unlikely in your case as she is still alive.

If she is an older ewe she could also have some internal issues.

I would take the lamb off asap and put onto either milk replacer or if you have a goat in milk nearby use her milk for the lamb. From your description it sounds unlikely that the ewe will be able to feed the lamb in the longer term and the sooner you put it onto the bottle the better. You can then care for the ewe separately.
