Hi all
We have 10 chooks all in lay.They started laying march this year i went up and got they eggs yesterday afternoon and i find a small pullet egg in the nestbox.All our girls lay nice big eggs this has never happened before . We have not changed anything we feed them pellets and mash .Dose anyone know why. ???

The same happened with my ducks a few weeks ago. It was the first time for a few years we had wee eggs as all had been in lay for a while - it left me puzzled! Blame it on the weather ::) :&>

It happens at the end of lay, also with older birds. I have blown and kept an egg from an old hen that is the size of a blackbirds egg. There was no yolk in it.

I hope you mean the end of lay per season (not for good), Sylvia! I posted a picture on here somewhere with all the different sizes we had ;D

End of season laying I think. My duck laid a wee egg a couple of weeks ago then I got three more normal eggs then she stopped altogether. The babies won't lay till spring.
