Hi from Galashiels
Just moved  here in March there is an old walled garden that has 3 apple trees and a plum tree and loads of weeds lol. Very interested in turning it into some sort of small holding want to get my children involved . I have zero gardening or farming knowledge I’m a joiner to trade any advice would be awesome.

Hello and welcome from  :sunshine: Carnoustie! Being joiner will be a huge asset! Lots of info on the website and in the forums but do ask questions - always happy to help!

Hello and welcome from a bit west of Gala  I have long dreamed of having a walled garden - so much you can do with it.
Yours will have its own local microclimate so while you're clearing the weeds take a note of things like where the sun moves through the day, any draughty bits or swirls of wind, any cold spots, what kind of soil you have, areas which get no rainfall because of the walls, view from the house and so on.
Have a think of what you want to do with your land. Do you want to grow vegetables, fruit and herbs? Do you want to keep livestock and if so do you have room? As well as making best use of TAS as a resource, it is always worth buying a couple of good veg growing books. Once you decide if you want animals or laying hens perhaps then get a good book specific to those. That way you will have some knowledge before you start which can prevent rookie mistakes.
BOG (Borders Organic Gardeners) is your local growing group.
