Hi I have a handsome welsummer cockerel going if anyone wants him. He's not for the pot though - not show standard but good for breeding layers. I'm by ashby de la zouch if anyone is interested.

Darn!! Ashby's a bit too far away from Glasgow for me, as I'm still desperately seeking "Kellogg" (http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/forum/index.php/topic,11465.0.html) myself!!
However, my Sister is both a) living in Loughborough, and b) a vet, so could possibly collect him when she comes up at Christmas..... What do you think? Would he travel that far happily (I'm sure she could get hold of a decent sized dog cage for transport)? I'd hate to put him through any trauma of course, but then again, having 12 lovely ladies up here to keep him warm at night, including four Welsummers, I bet he'd soon forget the journey ;).
What do you reckon?
Womble.

I don't see why not womble. So long as he's got a bit of feed and water in the cage I'd think he'd be fine. Lovely ladies will ease the trauma I'm sure. You're very welcome to him, he's 21 weeks old this week so a young fellow but he's already showing signs of being keen to please the girls. I'd keep him myself but already got 2 other cockerels and my popularity with my neighbours is reaching an all time low!
Let me know if you want him I'd be pleased to see him get a new home and I can take him to your sister if it helps.

Sounds great, I'll get in touch with my sister to see how the logistics would work, and I'll get back to you shortly. (I've just been out to check on the girls, and they're all very keen too! ;) )

Hi Helen,
I've spoken to my sister, and it looks like we're on! You'll never believe this, but she even has a chicken coop in her back garden that was in use by one of her flatmates ( ;D) until only a few months ago!
I'll PM you with my contact details.
Cheers!

Womble, where did you get/how did you make your drinker?
-
LOL! Hi Sylvia, you're not the only person (http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/forum/index.php?topic=11628.0) who's been asking that question! ;D
More details can be found here (http://anoutdoorlife.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/homemade-chicken-drinke/). HTH!

Hi Helen,
Well, he arrived just in time for Christmas Lunch (don't worry, we had turkey!), and my sister managed to sneak him under the tree in his cat basket whilst Mrs Womble was busy making gravy. The look on her face when he made his presence known half way through the sherry course had to be seen to be believed!! ;D
We've got him in a small ark on his own for now, just until he settles down, but we're sure he's going to fit in just perfectly. Anyhow, he's certainly a handsome fellow, and it's quite clear that our Black Rocks fancy him - just wish I'd had a camera handy when they spotted him this morning!
Anyhow, many thanks for your time delivering him to Loughborough, and Merry Christmas!
Womble.
P.S. One of my sister's neighbours did say "If Scotland wants him, they're welcome to him!" - I think we got him safely over the border just in time to avoid him getting an ASBO! ;D

Hi womble I'm so pleased he's made it safe and sound and settling in. He is a lovely fellow and I'm pleased he's going to have some lovely ladies to keep happy. I did warn your sister he was quite vocal thankfully it wasn't for too long so they'll forgive her :-)))
Would love to see some photos of him when he's settled with his girls. Thanks for the red wine it was very kind of you, I was happy to find him a good home so it was a lovely and enjoyable surprise. Have a happy new year .

Hi Helen,
Kellogg is a real cracker, and is getting on brilliantly with all the rest of the gang.

This was him doing the funky chicken this morning with one of his new girlfriends.

He's not too sure what to make of the big white 'chicken' in the background though, right enough :o
Mind you, there were a few things going on this morning that made me do a double take too!! ;)

Thanks once again!
