Title: Meat birds
Post by: Melias farm on April 19, 2022, 07:18:06 am
I’m needing to order in meat chicks.
For next lot I’ll be doing dual purpose. But can’t get them finished quickly enough this time.

Can anyone recommend an organic supplier that’s happy to ship in small quantities (20) please

Thank you

Most hatcheries insist on a minimum order of 50 but you may find someone to share the order with. Probably best to ask around in your local area (wherever that is) - smallholder groups, butchers, local farmers etc. Phone your nearest hatchery and talk to them, they may be willing to meet you en route with a smaller delivery when they are going somewhere else. This is what I do (although the minimum order is 50). The hatchery I use delivers thousands of chicks every week all over East Anglia but as long as I can meet the van somewhere and not hold anyone up then they are happy to bring me a boxful as and when I want them.

I used to order from them:

They used to sell small quantities of commercial white broilers (ross), red slower growing one's, and several more varieties.
