My dear old George had to be put to sleep this afternoon. For the last week I was having to hoist him up in the morning but yesterday he just went back down again. I gave him 24 hours but he didn't move, poor thing, so the vet was called. He was incredibly skinny with no muscle left and apparently very low blood pressure so was virtually knocking on deaths door anyway. We miss him terribly but at least he is now comfortable, and we gave him almost 3 years of love since he was rescued by the RSPCA. :goat: :'(

Oh dear, I am sorry :( It sounds like you have given him a lovely life while he has been with you though xx

Thanks plums.

My thoughts are with you too - you obviously loved him very much and gave him everything he needed - sending you a wee hug to be brave Clare

Bless him, sleep well George. 3 years of love will have seen him right

Oh what a shame, sending a hug your way. At least he is cosy and warm now, and can want for nothing else.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. They are really appreciated.

Is that George in your photo? Lovely looking goat. It is horrible when you loose a member of your animal family, but at least he is at peace now.

Yes, that photo is him. It was taken when he looked really handsome. He lost a horn and a lot of weight later on, although he was still gorgeous then of course!
The two girls, Lola and Fleur, especially Lola, are showing signs of missing him and bleat a lot. They have seen his body so I think are aware of what's happened.
