For anyone considering rearing their own birds for meat:
We still have a few places on our 'Chickens for The Table' course.
A one-day practical course, where you will learn to humanely dispatch, pluck and dress a meat chicken, ready for the table.
Each step taught then supervised - you will carry out the whole process yourself on your own bird (with as much assistance as required)
Enjoy a break for a homecooked lunch and a wander around our smallholding.
Take home your beautifully finished, oven-ready free range chicken at the end of the day.
This course is taught by two vets, fully WATOK qualified, who also run a thriving free range turkey business.

It would be helpful if you put in a location.

near Shrewsbury; too far from us to be workable, sadly.

Sorry - yes, we are on the Powys/Shropshire border, close to Shrewsbury and Welshpool. Lovely campsite just 10 minutes walk from us, if anyone wants an overnight stay.
