I am now the owner of an agri spec Honda Quadbike, I use it to get around the place.
It may occasionally go on the road , very rarely and very short distance.
Mainly I wish to insure it for third party and more importantly against theft. I have been looking for quotes to compare.
So far I have been on line, entering my details and getting phone calls not from insurance providers but numptys that take all my details and put me on hold awaiting "an agent" in every occasion the call is eventually answered by some one who has no idea why I am calling.
So far this morning this has happened 5 times, it is annoying that I cant get a straight answer.
My motor car insurer doesn't cater for quad bikes, and the NFU I think are still in hibernation as the local office dont answer the phone.
Please any suggestions please as to insurers that will insure an agri spec quad that is road registered and driven by a full licence holder of 47 years ?

Very surprised to hear that about NFU. I think you can call any of their offices, they don't seem to mind if you live locally or not. (I still get all my insurances and some other services from the Carlisle office, despite being over 400 miles away for the last 5+ years! Every time I ask them should I switch to one of my now local offices, they say they are happy to look after me by phone and post, if I am happy - which I always am.)

We have our smallholding insurance with Greenlands, and as far as I know they also do farm vehicles. They have phone numbers on their website.
Our local NFU office is working from home still as far as I know, but they do answer their phones... maybe another near you would be able to help. We still have our van insured with them, but insurance for a quad (esp for theft) can be quite pricey nowadays...

Tell me I got through to NFU was quoted over £200 just for theft cover only subject to fitting with thatchem approved tracker, locked building and ground anchor, I lost my nerve and forgot what the third party element would add to the quote....
It make my D-Max fully comp and worth 4 times a much a bargain at £186 !
I will keep shopping around, but fear I will have to bite the very large bullet

Quad bikes are expensive to insure because they’re extremely frequently stolen. God knows where they all go! Most farm quad bikes are so beaten up and covered in :poo: I’m amazed the discerning tea leaf bothers, but they do with monotonous regularity. Hence the sky high premiums and insistence on trackers and high security.

Our JD Gator is insured through Breeze underwriters, expensive because we had one stolen.
But maybe worth trying?
