Title: Hello from Norfolk... and goodbye!
Post by: adhickley on November 25, 2010, 10:05:09 am
Hello from Ad and Pam. We have an 8.2 acre smallholding in south Norfolk. We keep (or have kept) pigs, sheep, bullocks, geese and hens. We have a horse that harrows and cultivates and a 1939 Fordson Standard tractor for the bits he can't do. As well as the vegetable garden we have cultivated small areas of the fields, and last winter we planted some fruit trees and 800 hedge plants.

However... times are changing and we are moving on to (literally) pastures new in Cornwall. Inappropriate to post an advert here obviously so I've put something on the marketplace pages or visit our website at www.rushmerecottage.co.uk (http://www.rushmerecottage.co.uk). We'll be carrying on with some of the smallholding in our new place so we'll be back here soon, no doubt. Thanks.

Thanks for all the welcome messages! What a friendly bunch...

The place we're moving to has 5 acres and a potential bed and breakfast let, so we've got a SPECIAL OFFER on the go! Whoever introduces us to a buyer for our current smallholding gets FREE HOLIDAYS for life in the far west of Cornwall (conditions apply, but we do mean it!) So, if you know of anyone who is wanting to become a smallholder (and who has loads of money to spend!) tell them to visit http://www.rushmerecottage.co.uk and see what we've got to offer.

We're really well set up for someone new to smallholding with feed-sheds, pig sty, chicken runs, stables, store sheds, well fenced fields, water laid on everywhere, home office and, incidentally, a house! We'd really love to find a smallholder to take the place on, since we've invested so much time, hard work and money in the place and we'd love to see someone carry on what we've started. The place was completely derelict so we've done this more or less from scratch, so we really want Rushmere Cottage to "go to a good home".

Once again, thanks for the friendly welcome ;D

Great to hear you are coming to our neck of the woods  ;D we're also in West Cornwall, so wave goodbye to the flats of Norfolk and hello to the rolling moors and granite tors of Cornwall. ;D

I hope you find the perfect person for your house, it must be a real wrench leaving it.

It will be a wrench to leave because we've put so much into the place. Partly though, we're really proud of what we've achieved and we're looking forward to someone new taking it on, perhaps someone new to smallholding. We've spent a lot of time in the far west of Cornwall, and one of us used to live there, so we're looking forward to the move too.
