Thats it our first bigs are going to the abatoir this morning  !!!
Try to get them in the trailer and put there ear tags in im sure it will be fun !!

Well I have to say it was all easier than I thought piggys walked into the trailer no problem, walked back out at the abatoir no problem either ythought they were in heaven when they seen all the other pigs lol
There hanging in my shed and getting butchered tomorow cant wait

Glad it all went well for you. I know others might disagree but I'm led to believe it's best to let them hang for a few days so that the meat toughens slightly and makes it easier to cut (though this could just be an excuse from the butcher  ???) but probably not the best idea if they're in the shed - allbeit colder in there tonight than most fridges  ;)(blimin' freezing over in Lesmahagow, and snowing in Carluke)

Well done bet by now you are enjoying your first delicious chops.  OUr butcher prefers them to hang for at least 3 days, he wont do them if they havent hung for a minimum of 2.

Our butcher and the one our friends' used didn't want to start cutting until the carcasses had hung at least another week in their big fridges. The butchers need enough space in their fridges, though - Dundonald, maybe your butcher wants to start cutting right away because he can't store them? (In which case, you'll might want to find yourself another butcher for the next lot as the hanging does really matter).

all advise is grealty recieved
the pigs hung in the shed till this afternoon one has been cut up and someone wanted a half which has gone and i still have a half hanging in the shed.
I looked at it like this
phesant ducks etc hang for about a week and tste great we let a turkey hang for about  a week as well las year and it tasted better than the others, i have had a deer in the shed for over a week before and it was great and ou get beef thats hung for 28 days so im going to le this hang foer a week.
Happy your right my shed is -2 outside is -6 and the fridge is 4 degress lol
