Title: Hello from House (Narrow)Boaters (future smallholder!)...
Post by: DagobahSchooner on January 15, 2022, 11:17:58 pm
Greetings everyone!
My partner and I currently live on a narrow boat in London, we aspire to return to dry land one day, ideally a small holding living in a potentially off grid, more sustainable way. Perhaps Wales or Scotland. We're currently in the learning, saving, searching for properties, brainstorming and experimenting phase. We are John Seymour & Lloyd Khan enthusiasts and like getting our hands dirty and learning new things.
We'd happily share our knowledge of buying and maintaining our boat if it anyone is interested. We've a good grasp of installing solar, creating dry compost loos, gardening very small spaces like canal boat rooves and keeping  happy wormeries and rabbits.
Main interest at the mo - is learning about means of getting planning permission for building an A-Frame on a modest plot in the UK. Looking forward to speaking to you all!

Welcome!  I take it you have already discovered the Chapter 7 materials on the This Land is Ours website?

Welcome, sounds interesting, watched something on tv once about gardening on a narrow boat, amazing all the stuff on there!
We have been talking about solar for some lighting etc, esp with energy prices going up! Might speed OH into doing something about it  :)
