Title: Well we THOUGHT she was egg bound...
Post by: egglady on November 22, 2010, 08:25:10 pm
we didnt have any vaseline so hubby oiled his pinkie with vegetable oil and had a gentle poke around.....loads of runny pooh came squirting out - kind of like kids projectile diahorrea - it was truly stinking and hubby says it was also a bit grainy.  he says her croup is also full and her back end is really sparse feather wise and her breast bone is really protruding.

she was bright enough yesterday and was out and about with her sisters.

her eyes are bright and her comb is still red - although slightly crooked if that makes sense.

anyone any ideas?  will the projectile pooh have helped??

where is gillian mckeith when you need her!!!!!!!????!!!!

that's a real shame, no age to go, really. You did what you could! I find that hens are so much more delicate in their health than ducks... :chook: :&>

Yes, I've found that too, Kerstin.  I'm tempted not to buy any more chickens when these demise.
Sorry about your hen, Laura but at least she didn't suffer long.
