thursday night, after a very busy day... I decided not to rush to my "DIY" class, and take my time between getting home, feeding the animals and changing to go out again. Our feed delivery came just as I was getting ready, so by the time my o/h dropped me off all the other ladies were busy tiling (!)
As i walked up the path of the newly built centre, I slipped and fell, twisting round somehow. I knew I'd banged the heel of both hands and my right thigh but it didnt feel too bad. my o/h says I "went down like a ton of bricks!"
the ladies inside were lovely and fussed over me, I kept saying I was fine, and felt ok though sore.
anyway, by Saturday I couldnt ignore the pain in my right wrist/arm/shoulder/neck and so went to the hospital.
Its not broken, but badly sprained they said and the internal damage is still developing.
great!
:'(
so need to rest it, elevate etc. and keep taking the painkillers.
I'm left-handed... but realised today while trying to see to the animals just how ambi-dextrous I am - kept trying to do things with my right hand and making it hurt more!
Dont want to wear a sling really, but cant trust myself!! ::) but I type with one hand, and one finger off the other! ;D
and I have a huge lump on my thigh, that is slowly changing colour....

:bouquet: I have not injured myself for a while but do understand..it is amazing of what you find difficulties doing when one part of you is out of action. I had a hip op and when I was alone I kept dropping heavy things on the floor and was not suppose to bend, but I did of course!!!!!!!!!! Get better soon and when you do you will love that fact that all of you is in full working order again ;)

Ooo, I felt that! Did something similar a few years ago - twice in fact. First time was when I went out training my dog in my own fields, neighbour had said to take him into his field next door to teach Allez stopping on bunnies as he had loads of them. Tried to open gate between fields, overgrown with grass and weeds so decided to climb over - wet wellies, algae on wooden gate - you can imagine the thump as I went down onto his hardcore track at the other side! Dog was good - sat down when told, fortunately had phone in pocket but it was agony trying to get it out to phone a friend - I had broken my collar bone. ::) No driving for 6 weeks (by law), and looking after the dogs and poultry was a nightmare - but friends and neighbours all rallied round. Next time I slipped on iced up decking, bent my knee backwards, again no driving for 4 weeks really bad pain for a long while so you have my sincere sympathies! :'(

:bouquet: Shame - hope you'll be better soon :)

Try Arnica tincture, it works wonders on bruises and sprains - never on broken skin though!

Poor old you! Take this time to spoil yourself and make sure everyone else spoils you too ;)

Good idea - and you can get arnica pillules too.

Poor you! Its such a downer when something like that happens and damned awkward being incapacitated in some way when there's animals/people depending on you. Hope you're feeling better soon.

had to stay off work as Im more of a liability than any use, so enjoying the chance to be abit lazy (in between everything that needs doing, and the blokes who have turned up a week late to insulate the cavity walls....)
