They look lovely! Large white and berkshire? :pig: haha whaddo I know?
-
See, now I'm confused ??? (easily done mind !) I know you've got Tammies and Iron Age - but these look like they've got saddleback through them. Surely a saddleback x tamworth would show at least a hint of ginger somewhere ?
But I'm going to stick with saddleback x tamworth ;)
-
i have no idea what breeding they are, but gosh they are very cute
-
Large white x large black? ???
-
have no idea but i'll go for something different
large white x Pitrein (not sure if its spelt that way)
:pig:
-
nope all wrong so far yes we have tammies the iron are long gone they cost to mutch to feed and they took to long to get to weight we did cross kune kunes with tammies by accident would not do that again keep trying
-
large white X old spot???
-

Why ? I'm really nosey ;)
I'm hoping to cross my Berkshire gilts with my wee Kune Kune boar for a slightly faster finishing time without losing the flavour (and hopefully some really nicely marked piglets)
Back to the breed though - I've no idea ??? (I have a feeling I'm never going to get it ;))

Large white X saddleback ?
-
happy hippy at that time we were feeding barlley with sow nuts and potatoes they were to fat and to long in maturing also we were up to 125 pigs in total dont have kune kunes now and supposing they were free i would not have them even for pets the piglets in the pic we hope to get to slaughter weight at14wks/18wks with minimal fat

My Kunes are on grass, with supplimentary fruit and veg (and wheat feed pellets when there's no grass) - I agree that sow nuts and barley WOULD make them VERY fat (the protien levels are just way too much for them). As for not having them, even supposing they were free - we'll just have to agree to disagree ;) I LOVE my Kunes ;D Wonderfull natures, soooooo easy to handle and a great choice for me. BUT I'm not worried about how long they take to get to slaughter size or what kind of return I'm going to get on them :-\
I reckon if you're slaughtering @ 14-18 weeks then you've got a cross of Large/Middle white and pietrain to give that kind of speed (but maybes not lol!) It'll be interesting to find out what they are

I'm so tempted to guess here and make myself look super knowledgeable.....but that would be slightly cheating...

Middlewhite - GOS

I toyed with the Large Black idea too - ruled it out because of the mega quick finishing (but I'm clutching at straws lol!)
I'm away to check back Beth's posts - can't handle the suspense rofl ! ;)
-
no clues their sorry
-
They look identical to my Large White / Duroc crosses.
-
just reared our first 4 welsh pigs, so how about Welsh x oxford sandy and black? ???
-
your right with the welsh bit she came from Wales but wrong with the two breeds
