Title: Holding Register
Post by: waterhouse on November 18, 2010, 09:59:57 pm
When do newborn lambs get entered into my Holding Register?  Is it when they're tagged?

And if an unrecorded lamb dies does it stay unrecorded?

Lambs are entered on completion of lambing - so as soon as your last ewe has lambed, you fill in the book.  As all dead lambs have to be taken for incineration they will also be recorded in the 'out' column, as dead.

I guess then it goes into the "date of identification of Animals and Births" section of the latest register

I won't need to tag them for ages after lambing so they go in twice - once at birth and again when tagged?

How do you do this?

My book doesn't have that bit  ;D  sorry !  I just put mine in once when they are all born, and then just the total, no tag numbers.  Maybe there is a new document that I don't know about.

I record them all at birth and then once tagged I squash in the tag number on the same line.

Any replacement tags theres a special page for in the register for all replacement tagging.

Any that die have 2 lines, the one when born, and the one when died.
