Why do organizations like the CPRE want to be known as an abbreviation!  "The Campaign to Protect Rural England" would likely catch more attention !?  Of course "The Campaign to Protect Rural UK" (CPRUK) would be better !

If you're not recognised as an acronym then how can you justify your existence?  The same applies to medical conditions - people can't relax until their condition can be reeled off as a stream of letters, which of course everyone is expected to recognise  ::)

(Interesting that they started out as the Council for the Preservation of Rural England and then played around with the words, while still ignoring neighboring cousins !!!!!!)
