Afternoon all,
I am fairly new here as a member but have been a reader for sometime. I am currently looking at purchasing some land which is currently used for the grazing of sheep by a local farmer. It is approx 10acres. There is an existing pole barn there with tin sides and roof which has been there for more than 20 years I would say, probably even longer they just store bales in there currently. It needs a little TLC let's say.
So a few questions... If its classed as pasture land, what can the land be used for and not? I surely can have chickens if I like.
If I wanted to rebuild/modernise/fix/make safe on the pole barn or perhaps put some doors on the front. Would this need planning?
We have no plans to live on the land so its not a way how to build or convert a building into a house in 4yrs or similar.
Thanks in advance.

You can keep your chickens. Any animal can graze the grass. I would just put doors on the barn and make it safe as long as you are not going for brick and extensions.

Check that the roof is not asbestos.
