We have electric poultry fencing. they still manage to get out (at least 2 of them fly out but get back in!) but as yet, mr fox has never been in. we have 14 girls and touch wood, not lost one yet.
I think ours is about 3 ft high?

Ideally: 6ft high, even better 7 or 8 foot. Any mesh that is small enough that a chicken could not squeeze through. Dig it a minimum of 6 inches into the ground to help prevent fox from digging his way in. Cement the area underneath the gate (so often forgotten about).
Build your henhouse off the ground, this will help deter rats who will almost immediately burrow and move in underneath.
Hope this helps.

Builders fencing pannels are the best things if you aren't needing something asthetically pleasing, ready build just need dug in and secured together.
