Title: 2 free steers and alpaca and a boar
Post by: chrisandann on June 14, 2021, 11:54:08 am
I am giving up farming. I have two very docile Hereford Cross steers well used to people and for 11 years a feature of our holiday cottage letting - children have loved them. I want to avoid sending them to slaughter and am willing to pay for their complete costs until they die. Free to a good home and great if you have visitors.

Also a pedigree Saddleback boar (prize winning) very quiet and a very young male alpaca - white

I'm based near Launceston so might suit anyone Cornwall or Devon based.

thanks

Chris

It's not as easy as that arobwk.  A full sized Hereford X steer uses up to an acre of grass. So someone needs to have 2 acres spare in order to be able to take them. Being smallholders, I very much doubt if there are many (or even any) people on here that have 2 acres to spare. Some smallholdings are even less than that.
Hopefully a home has been found for them, especially as chrisandann are prepared to pay for their keep. it would be nice to hear that a forever home had been found.

Plus there’s Tb risk and Cornwall is about to go into 6 monthly testing.

I think I saw a post about these steers on Facebook and seem to remember there were a few potential homes in the pipeline.
