Title: Japanese knotweed or something else?
Post by: DenisCooper on April 14, 2021, 04:22:13 pm
Hi

I’ve been clearing back loads of the garden over winter as it’s been a bit neglected since we moved in. It’s still stunning just need a good pruning and clearing of over grown ivy covering everything.

I’m intrigued by what these plants might be. They are shooting up around one of the corners I’ve cleared and my identification app is suggesting knotweed, but not exactly knowing what it looks like but knowing it’s not what you want in the garden I was a little concerned.

The stems are a red and light green colour, rhubarb like. And the leaves are the same mainly green with red veins.

The area was full to brambles and ivy.

Any idea what they are please?

It’s all mine. Lol.

I remembered I’d got some round up 480 so I’ve just covered the stems and leaves with it.

Guess I’ll just have to keep an eye. Luckily it’s no where near the house.

I wonder how it’s got here or if it’s because I disturbed it when clearing the area.
