So another one joining the army of smallholders or dreamer's, hello everyone a little bit about me then. I'm 59 from East Devon a bit retired ( I work when I do ) lol. I restore old buildings - stone work brick work repointing and help people learn to do their own repairs. Thanks for letting me in .

You are very welcome Fred. We are next door in Somerset. Whereabouts in Devon are you?

Axminster Devon so not far away 😊

Hello and welcome from :sunshine: Carnoustie!

Hello and welcome
Nothing wrong with dreamers, the best people are :)

Hello to all that have sent me a message, lovely to be here 😊

You are right - Axminster is not that far away from here. We drive through it on our way to the coast (though obviously we have not done very much of that in the last year). It is a lovely ancient town. I expect there is quite a lot of stonework and repointing needed in and around there.

The restoration work I do covers a wide area, I've worked in France Ireland and all over the UK teaching other people to do their own repairs to keep there costs down.

Sounds a great thing to do :)
What I usually need here is a waller.....for the fields :roflanim:
-
lol, is this dry stone walling? Got to be a windy place 😆
-
Yes :D A bit too much of it too!
1,450 feet up it does get just a little bit windy lol and the heavy snow we've just had hasn't helped. Also I've taken on a very neglected field with matching very neglected fencing posts, fencing and dry stone walls so gradually trying to do a bit at a time. It's a SSSi and was a proper hay meadow once. Not many of them left now. My aim is to try and get it back to how it was. You talk about dreaming........It may well take a lot of hard work and advice but I'll get there :) :bee: :bfly: :farmer: :hugsheep:

I can't promise anything but when you have time and if you want any advice send me some photos and I'll see what I can do.
Could be my next holiday after covids disappeared lol
