Hi All,
I know that a few of you have aplied creoste to your poultry houses in the battle against red mite. Can you please tell me what make and suppliers you have used as I am struggling to get hold of some and wondered if the creosote substitutes that are on the market do the same job?

Hi I used the substitute from wickes and it's worked well, only thing that did!

Not much help here I'm afraid.....I got some from a friend who owns a hardware shop and bought a load of it just before it went illegal. Even though we're good friends he didn't sell me the creosote itself but the carrier bag was £3.50 :o :o :D

Hi Buffy
I get proper cresote from Farmstar think they only do the real stuff in dark brown.
-
got me a great big drum of it from Scats, £35 for a 60 litre (I think) drum.

Proper creosote is only available to fencers and Farmers ::).
Paraffin and diesel work just as well. I have used both in the past without any problems.

I get mine from a local farm supply shop. It isnt widely available to the public but it does keep the red beasties away. :farmer:
