Some of my sheep are off in the morning for meat, depends whos going as to tags.
1 of the 4 year olds only has 1 yellow tag,are the yellow tags eid tags.
Some of the 2 year olds only have 1 green tag
Am i right in that they need to be double tagged so i would have to retag with red tags.
Thanks

no they are just normal tags. you don't need to retag them. any of this years lambs you do need to eid them.
-
So can i send the ones with 1 tag to slaughter?
Thanks

yes, the older ones only reqiure one tag, any sheep born betwen Jan 2009 and Dec2009 need two normal tags, any born since Jan 2010 need EID plus one normal tag in the other ear.
The abattoir will check your sheeps' teeth anyway, so they know how old they are and therefore what tags they need.

Not quite right, not in England anyway.
2010 born sheep going to slaughter within a year of birth need only one tag, an ordinary slaughter tag. If you lose it then you retag in red.
2010 born sheep being kept over a year need double-tagging, one of which has to be a yellow EID. Which has to be replaced with red.
There's a few more tricks in the regs but thats enough for now.
