lol.
we've had a fire already today, got plenty more for the 5th.... :)

I've got the biggest stash of fireworks at home, just waiting for the 5th,,should be good!
-
we build a big fire for the saterday the 6 th all locals come food etc
-
Can I remind everyone to check underneath their bonfire before lighting it to make sure no hedgehogs have made it their home? Very important to check - there are a lot of losses every year because no one thinks to look.
:'(

im not into to bonfire night, might be classed as miserable, but spent so many of them comforting dogs, cats and horses. have radio on for dogs and horses already in an evening as fireworks are already going off, and the town is 2.5 miles away and we can still hear them, how loud do fireworks have to be?????????
i hope everyone as a good safe bonfire time

With you there faith0504!
Being in Birmingham is like being at the Somme. In cities I believe that only organised events should have fireworks, they go on for soo long both before and after the day. Oh and it's the same for Diwali which is soon too................seems like I should finish with Bah Humbug! ;D

i will second the organised events theory, it should be like that across the board, then everyone and everything would be as safe as they can be with fireworks
-
.... and on the same night... here, it goes on for weeks (not to mention New year!)
-
Totally in agreement. Professionally organised firework events only.

We're having a bonfire this year - consisting of the gutted caravan that has been our home for the last 3 years while we were building our cottage - as this is now complete we moved in last weekend ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Not doing the fireworks bit though - don't want to freak the pups out!

Definitely. I would go so far as to say move the whole bonfire across a bit just to be sure. Could be a sitting hen in there too.
We lost a cat one bonfire night years ago and it stills hurts to think what might have happened to him.
Up here we are well away from most fireworks so we can enjoy them from a distance. Most of our livestock are fairly bombproof as they are used to low flying military jets playing.

My thoughts are with you Fleecewife. God Bless.

We are not having a bonfire, just using the firepit for a low level controlled fire. And having some friends over with their kids.
We do have an organised event near here, but last year it was so over crowded as they went mad selling far too many tickets, that the place was heaving, car parking took an hour and leaving took longer and of course there are stalls everywhere selling overpriced toffee apples etc that the kids all want. >:( ::) :-\
So, we are having a small do in the garden for some mates. The cat is indoors and ignores fireworks anyway, the chickens are on the far side of the house and the cows in the field have gone back to the farmer. So only the foxes left to scare.
Besides - I dont like fireworks, they are dangerous and make me jump. I will indulge the kids with a short display and then just send them all to bed while we grownups have a beer ;D :D

what a waste of good fuel.
