I have two Tamworth boars :pig: I am looking for advice on the best slaughter weight.
-
I would aim for a liveweight of around 100kg, which should be a deadweight of around 75-80kg

[member=13764]RaisinHall Tamworths[/member] [member=2623]Tudful Tamworths[/member] what do you think? 100 kilo's liveweight fot tamworths too high?

This is probably a stupid question so apologies if it is, but I'm yet to get any pigs. How do you weigh them for live weight or is is an estimate?

Its an estimate as I don't have scales. Its a bit of a gamble, you send them when you think they are ready and then you can see the deadweight and work out the liveweight from that. Its experience really, if they come back too light you know to feed more or leave longer, too fat and you've kept to long or not fed enough.
