just done 6 and an emergency cull. i would not say i enjoyed it. however the hot water dipping sure did speed it up. another advantage it killed the lice that was on them. a hundred spot ons coming up and paint spaying to id the done ones.

Ooh I've got my first lot to do at beginning of December - what's hot water dipping? ???
-
just very hot water dip them in make sure they are wet and it helps loosen the feathers. it also stops any down from flying about. i ended up dipping twice. as said it kills bugs. after plucking dip in cold water to chill.
-
its when you dip your bird into a huge pot of hot water for at least 2 min, it makes plucking
out the feathers alot easier ;)
try and get a pot that that will take all of you bird, hold birds by feet ;)

no problem we just use the sink. pretty orrid if any non meat eaters had turned up. blood on the floor. a bucket with heads in and six chooks draining over the bath. still another six cockerals to go. then the meat birds and turks and geese not forgeting the lambs and pigs to chop up. at least no cows our neighbour home butchers theirs it must take them ages. when beheading don't let your teenager help nearly cut the wifes fingers off. now that one would have been good a good one to explain at the A&E.
