Hi, I bought a tup today....not a very pretty tup, quite ugly infact.
No-one came in the ring with him, and no-one knew anything about him.
I'd seen him in the pens, looking odd against the others, and thought I'd have him.
He was among the Texels. When I read the sale paper it gave his breed as TEXEL BSR.
He has a slight blue tinge to his head, around eyes and cheeks, Texel shaped head, but not Texel colour.
I haven't any idea what he is at all, and didn't pay a great deal for him...he was the cheapest tup in the sale !
Being some 30 years since I had much to do with sheep I am wondering if I've missed something here.
Whatever he is he was showing great interest in my ewes as soon as I put him in with them, and thats what I want....I'd just like to know what the BSR stands for.
Anyone ??

There are Blue Texels so perhaps that's what it refers to. I have a lovely blue texel fleece hanging in the barn waiting to be spun for a rug. If it's that, then that would be why he would not be popular, as most breeders shun the blues.
