Title: Can anyone recommend a good wood/forest walk in central Scotland?

Exactly as it says- I have a yen to take the dogs tromping through a wood with lots of lovely leaves around. My dad and I used to go walks like that when I was wee, but I was so young, I don't remember any of the places we used to go.

We are in Falkirk area, but could go for a drive!

Beecraigs, Muiravonside Country Parks.

Gartmorn Dam in Sauchie is lovely - one of my very favourite places, with a path round the reservoir but also paths up into Cow Park wood.

The Hermitage/Craigvinian forest 1 mile north of Dunkeld

You could lose yourself for days up there   ;D

There's community woodlands in various places - Dollar, up the hill past the road end going to the Castle Campbell; opposite Blairadam Kennels, up past Knockhill racing; and new one at Muckhart I believe but not been there yet.  Let me know if you want directions to any of them.

Thanks for the suggestions- I like the sound of Dunkeld, think might need to plan a day up there though, Pitlochry too. Beecraigs and Muiravonside are on my doorstep and go to both of those regularly.

Annie, whereabouts is the one past Knockhill?

And Sandy, where is Devilla Forest?

Devilla forst is around 4 miles from clackmannan, head to kincardine, take the road out and then at the roundabout out of kincardine take a left and we can turn off into one entrance of Devilla but if you carry on the road to ?????I shall take a look, there is a car park on the left, Devilla forest is a whole lot of walks, you can cover laods of miles and go somewhere different each time, we love it!!! I shall take a look at where it is to post a link!!

Pitmedden Forest on the border of Fife and P&K is also worth a visit - there is a loop that goes up over the back of Abernethy and on a clear day you can see right down to Dundee and up to where the Earn and Tay meet.

I love the Hermitage area up by Dunkeld too, and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park just south of Aberfoyle in the Trossachs..

Pitmedden forest is very good, its just up the back from me.  Lots of great walks up there :)
