Title: tiniest egg ever
Post by: northfifeduckling on October 02, 2010, 12:06:43 pm
one of my ducks (all over a year old and experienced layers!) has given me an egg smaller than a quail's! We've had those from "beginners" but why now? :&>

I have never kept "laying" ducks, but I would imagine that their laying would be affected by moulting the same as chickens.  My ducks are just nearing the end of their annual feather change, and growing feathers takes lots of protein, as does laying eggs.

all the best

none of the white egg layers has started moulting yet, weird. They just used to take a straight break ::). Looks lovely , though  ;D
