I think chicken dispatcher says it all, there are different sorts and different thoughts as to which is the best, easiest and most humane way of doing the job

This is a link to a page with quite a few on
Chicken Dispatchers (http://www.ascott-dairy.co.uk/acatalog/Poultry_Processing_.html)

Hope posting a link isn't breaking forum rules

Before you do, check the Humane Slaughter Society's guidance, please. I haven't looked at the link but the secateur type are not recommended for a humane kill.

Its probably problematic as to any way to kill humanly without stunning first :(.  I have a feeling "pithing" might be most quick without stunning first, but there is no way I could do that - just too whimpy :'(

My cowardly way is normally to get someone else to do it unless there is no way out.  I know it was traditional for the women of the household to kill the fowl, but in our house my father always did the killing, so as far as I am concerned it is "man's work"

all the best

I think I am going to try the abattoir, as long as my french will hold up, not the best place for too much confusion.
