has anyone who has far more understanding of hay than i do ( i know my goats love it, thats about all!)
some idea of the nutritional values it has regarding goats and their needs of fibre , protein etc.
thanks for any replys as im wanting to gain more understanding of what makes a goat tick and good goat husbandry.
thanks very much langdon ;) :goat:

Hay has more nutritional value than straw, and more than most tree branches (elm is an exception). However, the fibre content is good for goats as well.

and filling their bellies with hay saves on the concentrate bills!

not this winter it doesn't... if your hay got all rained on... and never got made into hay.... (and it's 4 quid a bale to buy and you still had to pay the contractor for not getting yours done) Mine get now a lunchtime "treat" of straw, at the moment it's wheat, but they liked the barley more..., but also soaked sugarbeet to make up any nutrition imbalance.
